Mission Hb Test Strip Compatibility Guide: Which Hemoglobin Strips Work with Your Meter?
The Mission Hemoglobin Monitor should be used only with the compatible Mission Hemoglobin Test Strips specified for the Mission Hb testing system.
Hemoglobin test strips are not universal. Even when two meters measure the same parameter, their strips may differ in reagent chemistry, physical design, calibration and meter-reading characteristics.
The most important compatibility rule is:
Mission Hb Meter → Mission Hemoglobin Test Strips.
This guide explains the correct Mission Hb strips, pack size, meter matching, coding/calibration, sample requirements, strips that should not be substituted and what to check before ordering.

Why Mission Hb Strips Are Meter-Specific
The Mission Hb meter and its test strips function together as one diagnostic testing system.
Compatibility can depend on:
- strip dimensions,
- sample application design,
- dry-reagent chemistry,
- optical properties,
- calibration or coding information,
- required blood volume, and
- meter calculation algorithms.
A strip that looks physically similar should not be assumed to work in the Mission meter.
How to Identify the Correct Mission Hb Strips
Before ordering replacement strips, confirm:
- The meter is clearly identified as a compatible Mission Hb / Mission Plus Hb Hemoglobin Monitor.
- The strip product clearly states Mission Hemoglobin Test Strips.
- The listing specifically states compatibility with the Mission Hb system.
- The pack quantity matches your requirement.
- The current expiry and storage conditions are suitable for your expected usage.
Do not order strips solely because the package says “Hb” or “hemoglobin test strips”.
Mission Hb Test Strips Pack Size
Microsidd currently offers:
Mission Hemoglobin Test Strips – 50 Tests
The standard pack is typically configured as:
25 strips per canister × 2 canisters = 50 strips

Always check the current product listing because manufacturer packaging can change over time.
Does the Mission Strip Pack Include a Code Chip?
The current Mission Hb strip configuration includes the applicable coding / calibration component supplied for the testing system.
When beginning a new strip supply:
- follow the instructions supplied with the strip pack,
- use the correct coding / calibration component,
- do not mix it with components from another strip family, and
- confirm the meter is prepared according to the current instructions.
Automatic system calibration does not mean that lot-specific setup instructions can be ignored.
Can Quikchek Plus Hb Strips Be Used with Mission Hb?
Do not substitute Quikchek Plus Hb Test Strips for Mission Hemoglobin Test Strips.
Although both systems share several technical characteristics and are associated with ACON, they should be treated as separate meter-and-strip platforms.
If your meter is Quikchek Plus, use:
Quikchek Plus Hb Test Strip Compatibility Guide →
Can TrueHb Strips Be Used with Mission Hb?
No substitution should be made.
TrueHb is a separate hemoglobin testing platform with its own specified TrueHb Test Strips.
If your meter is TrueHb, see:
TrueHb Test Strip Compatibility Guide →
Are Mission Hb Strips the Same as Glucose Test Strips?
No.
Mission Hb Test Strips are designed for hemoglobin measurement.
Glucose test strips are designed for blood glucose measurement.
The two test systems are different and are not interchangeable.
Are Mission Hb Strips Used for HbA1c Testing?
No.
The Mission Hb system described here measures hemoglobin concentration.
HbA1c testing measures glycated hemoglobin and requires a separate compatible HbA1c analyser and test consumables.
How Much Blood Do Mission Hb Strips Need?
The current Mission system requires approximately:
10 µL of whole blood.
Supported specimen types include:
- capillary whole blood, and
- venous whole blood.
Follow the current specimen collection and application procedure supplied with the strip pack and meter.
How Fast Is the Mission Hb Test?
When used correctly with the compatible Mission meter, results are displayed in less than approximately:
15 seconds.
The system provides:
- quantitative Hemoglobin (Hb), and
- calculated Hematocrit (Hct).
Mission Hb Measurement Range
The current Mission system specification lists approximately:
- Hb range: 4.0–25.6 g/dL
- Calculated Hct range: 13–75%
These figures describe the compatible testing system and should not be applied to another Hb meter.
Does Strip Compatibility Affect Hb and Hct Results?
Yes.
The Mission meter is designed to interpret the optical reaction created by the specified Mission Hb strip system.
Using the wrong strip can prevent normal testing or make the system unsuitable for reliable measurement.
Compatibility should therefore be confirmed before testing begins.
Can Old Mission Hb Strips Be Used with a New Mission Meter?
They should only be considered for use if:
- they are the exact compatible Mission Hb strip product,
- they remain within expiry,
- they were stored correctly,
- the packaging is intact,
- the appropriate calibration / coding information is available, and
- the current manufacturer instructions support their use with that meter.
Do not use leftover strips when their identity or storage history is uncertain.
Can New Mission Hb Strips Be Used with an Older Mission Meter?
If the manufacturer identifies both the meter and the current strip pack as part of the compatible Mission Hb testing system, they may be intended for use together.
However, always verify the exact meter model and follow the instructions supplied with the new strip pack.
This is particularly important for older meter generations.
Check Expiry Before Using Mission Hb Strips
Before performing a test, check the expiry printed on the actual strip packaging supplied to you.
Do not rely on the expiry from:
- a previous order,
- an old product image,
- another canister, or
- a different strip lot.
Do not use strips beyond the applicable manufacturer expiry.
Mission Hb Strip Storage
The current product specifications list storage at approximately:
- 2°C–30°C, and
- ≤85% relative humidity.
General handling practices include:
- keep strips in their original canister,
- remove only the strip needed for the current test,
- close the canister promptly,
- protect strips from excessive heat and moisture,
- avoid direct sunlight,
- do not use damaged strips, and
- do not reuse strips.

What If the Mission Meter Does Not Recognise the Strip?
Check:
- the exact meter model,
- strip compatibility,
- strip insertion direction,
- strip expiry,
- strip condition,
- the correct calibration / coding component, and
- the setup instructions supplied with the current strip lot.
Do not force an incompatible strip into the meter.
How to Avoid Ordering the Wrong Mission Hb Strips
Before placing an order:
- Look at the exact model printed on your hemoglobin meter.
- Confirm that it belongs to the compatible Mission Hb / Mission Plus Hb system.
- Choose Mission Hemoglobin Test Strips.
- Check pack size and current expiry information.
- Do not substitute Quikchek Plus, TrueHb, glucose or HbA1c strips.
