Accurex Lipid Profile Test Strip Compatibility Guide: LPS-101 vs TCS-101 vs TGS-101 vs HLS-101
The Accurex Lipid Profile Meter / Blood Lipid Analysis System supports several different test-strip references.
This is useful because the same meter platform can perform either a broader lipid profile or a single-parameter lipid test, depending on the strip selected.
However, it also creates an important purchasing question:
Should you buy LPS-101, TCS-101, TGS-101 or HLS-101?
The answer depends entirely on which lipid parameters you need to measure.
The four compatible strip references are:
- LPS-101 – 3-in-1 Lipid Panel
- TCS-101 – Total Cholesterol
- TGS-101 – Triglycerides
- HLS-101 – HDL Cholesterol
This guide explains what each strip measures, which results are calculated, sample-volume differences, code-chip matching and which configuration makes sense for different testing requirements.
Accurex Lipid Test Strips at a Glance
| Strip | Directly Measures | Calculated Results | Approx. Sample | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LPS-101 | TC + HDL + TG | LDL + TC/HDL Ratio | Approx. 35 µL | Broader lipid-profile testing |
| TCS-101 | Total Cholesterol – TC | None from this single-parameter test | Approx. 10 µL | TC-only testing |
| TGS-101 | Triglycerides – TG | None from this single-parameter test | Approx. 10 µL | TG-only testing |
| HLS-101 | HDL Cholesterol | None from this single-parameter test | Approx. 10 µL | HDL-only testing |
Which Strips Work with the Accurex Lipid Profile Meter?
The Accurex / LPM-101 Blood Lipid Analysis System is designed to work with:
- LPS-101
- TCS-101
- TGS-101
- HLS-101
These strips belong to the compatible Blood Lipid Analysis System platform.
Do not assume that another cholesterol strip will work simply because it has a similar shape.

LPS-101: 3-in-1 Lipid Profile Test Strip
LPS-101 is the most comprehensive strip configuration supported by the system.
One LPS-101 strip directly measures:
- Total Cholesterol – TC
- HDL Cholesterol
- Triglycerides – TG
The meter then uses these measured values to calculate:
- LDL Cholesterol
- TC/HDL Ratio
This means one LPS-101 test can provide five displayed lipid values:
TC + HDL + TG + calculated LDL + calculated TC/HDL ratio
What Is the LPS-101 Sample Volume?
The LPS-101 lipid panel requires approximately:
35 µL of specimen
This is larger than the sample requirement of the individual parameter strips because the LPS-101 simultaneously performs multiple lipid measurements.
How Long Does LPS-101 Testing Take?
The compatible system provides LPS-101 lipid-panel results in approximately:
2 minutes
After the correct amount of specimen is applied, the meter automatically performs the photochemical analysis and displays the lipid results.
Which Results Does LPS-101 Actually Measure?
It is important to distinguish measured and calculated parameters.
| Parameter | LPS-101 Result Type |
|---|---|
| Total Cholesterol | Directly measured |
| HDL Cholesterol | Directly measured |
| Triglycerides | Directly measured |
| LDL Cholesterol | Calculated |
| TC/HDL Ratio | Calculated |
How Does Accurex Calculate LDL?
With the LPS-101 strip, the meter uses the directly measured TC, HDL and TG values to calculate LDL under the manufacturer's applicable calculation conditions.
The manufacturer's LPM-101 documentation specifies the conventional calculation:
LDL = TC − HDL − TG/5 when results are expressed in mg/dL.
The calculated LDL result should therefore not be confused with a direct LDL assay.
TCS-101: Total Cholesterol Test Strip
TCS-101 is the single-parameter Total Cholesterol strip for the compatible Accurex / LPM-101 platform.
It measures:
Total Cholesterol – TC only
TCS-101 does not independently provide:
- HDL
- Triglycerides
- Calculated LDL
- TC/HDL Ratio
This strip can be useful where only Total Cholesterol measurement is required from an existing Accurex system.
TCS-101 Sample Volume & Test Time
TCS-101 uses approximately:
10 µL of specimen
and provides a Total Cholesterol result in approximately:
2 minutes
TGS-101: Triglycerides Test Strip
TGS-101 is the parameter-specific strip used to measure:
Triglycerides – TG
It does not generate a full lipid profile by itself.
TGS-101 can be useful when only a standalone triglyceride result is required from the compatible meter.
TGS-101 Sample Volume & Test Time
The TGS-101 uses approximately:
10 µL of specimen
and provides the result in approximately:
2 minutes
HLS-101: HDL Cholesterol Test Strip
HLS-101 is the parameter-specific strip designed to measure:
High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol – HDL
It does not provide TC, TG or calculated LDL by itself.
HLS-101 Sample Volume & Test Time
The HLS-101 uses approximately:
10 µL of specimen
and provides the HDL result in approximately:
2 minutes

Which Accurex Strip Should You Buy?
You Need a Broad Lipid Profile
Choose:
LPS-101
because one compatible test provides:
TC + HDL + TG + calculated LDL + calculated TC/HDL ratio
You Need Only Total Cholesterol
Choose:
TCS-101
You Need Only Triglycerides
Choose:
TGS-101
You Need Only HDL
Choose:
HLS-101
Why Would Someone Use a Single-Parameter Strip?
A broader lipid profile is not required for every test.
Single-parameter strips may be useful when:
- Only one lipid measurement is required
- A particular analyte needs follow-up testing
- The facility's testing protocol specifies an individual parameter
- A complete panel is not necessary for that testing session
The appropriate test should be selected according to the intended clinical or screening workflow.
Why LPS-101 Requires More Sample
The LPS-101 requires approximately 35 µL, while the single-parameter strips typically use approximately 10 µL.
This reflects the fact that the LPS-101 strip contains the reaction areas necessary to determine multiple lipid parameters during the same test.
Do All Accurex Lipid Strips Use the Same Code Chip?
No.
Each box of compatible test strips is supplied with its own code chip.
The LPM-101 manual instructs users to:
- Use the code chip supplied with the current strip box.
- Insert the chip into the meter.
- Check the code printed on the strip package.
- Compare it with the meter display.
- Proceed only when the codes match.
Do not assume that a code chip from another strip type or lot is interchangeable.
Why Code-Chip Matching Matters
The code chip provides the meter with the calibration information for the corresponding strip lot.
Using an incorrect code chip can produce unreliable results.
Keep:
- Strip box
- Strip lot
- Code chip
- Package insert
together whenever possible.
Can QuikCheck Cholesterol Strips Be Used in the Accurex Meter?
No.
The QuikCheck Total Cholesterol system and the Accurex Blood Lipid Analysis System are different analytical platforms.
QuikCheck strips should not be substituted for:
- LPS-101
- TCS-101
- TGS-101
- HLS-101
Similar appearance does not mean compatibility.

Can Glucometer Strips Be Used in the Accurex Lipid Meter?
No.
Blood glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride and lipid-profile strips use different reagent systems and calibration requirements.
Only use strips specifically designated for the Accurex Blood Lipid Analysis System.
Can LPS-101 Be Replaced by Three Separate Strips?
TCS-101, HLS-101 and TGS-101 can individually measure TC, HDL and TG.
However, three separate tests are not the same workflow as performing one LPS-101 3-in-1 lipid-panel test.
LPS-101 is specifically designed to measure the three required analytes during a single strip test and allow the meter to calculate LDL and TC/HDL ratio from that panel.
If a full panel is required, use the strip configuration specified for that purpose.
Which Samples Can Accurex Lipid Strips Use?
The Blood Lipid Analysis System supports appropriate testing using:
- Capillary whole blood
- Venous whole blood
- Serum
- Plasma
Always confirm the permitted specimen type in the package insert supplied with the exact strip being used.
Capillary Blood: Use the Correct Sample
The manufacturer's LPM-101 instructions recommend using the second drop of blood for capillary testing.
Ensure that:
- Hands are clean and dry
- An adequate sample is obtained
- The correct transfer tube is used
- The required volume is applied
- The application area is properly filled
Do Not Add More Blood After an Insufficient Sample
If insufficient specimen has been applied, the manufacturer advises:
Do not add more specimen to the same strip.
Instead:
- Discard the used strip.
- Prepare a fresh strip.
- Obtain the correct sample volume.
- Repeat the test.
Are Accurex Lipid Test Strips Reusable?
No.
All four test-strip types are single-use diagnostic consumables.
Never:
- Wash and reuse a strip
- Add a new specimen to an already tested strip
- Use one strip for multiple patients
- Return a used strip to its container
How Should Accurex Test Strips Be Stored?
Manufacturer documentation instructs users to keep test strips in their original protective packaging.
Important storage practices include:
- Keep strips in the original canister or foil pouch.
- Keep packaging tightly closed.
- Do not transfer strips to another container.
- Protect strips from heat.
- Protect strips from excessive humidity.
- Protect strips from direct sunlight.
- Check the printed expiry before testing.
Opened-Canister Handling
For canister-packed strips, the LPM-101 manual specifies an opened-canister period of approximately:
3 months after first opening
Write the opened-expiry date on the canister and discard remaining strips after that period, even if the printed manufacturer's expiry is later.
If the printed expiry occurs first, the printed expiry takes priority.
