Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips | 2 Parameter Urinalysis Reagent Strips | 100 Tests

Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips are dual-parameter urinalysis reagent strips designed for the qualitative and semi-quantitative screening of glucose (GLU) and protein (PRO) in urine.

Each test strip contains separate reagent areas for glucose and protein, allowing both parameters to be screened using a single fresh urine sample. The strips use a simple dip-and-read method and results are interpreted by comparing the colour of the reagent areas with the reference colour chart supplied on the product container.

The pack contains 100 urine test strips, making it suitable for routine urinalysis in diagnostic laboratories, clinics, hospitals, healthcare settings and for home monitoring when recommended by a healthcare professional.

No urine analyser is required for visual interpretation. Always follow the instructions and parameter-specific reading times supplied with the product before interpreting a result.

What Does This Urine Test Strip Measure?

Glucose (GLU)

The glucose reagent area screens for the presence and approximate concentration of glucose in urine.

Glucose is normally present in urine at low levels. Detectable or elevated urine glucose can occur for several reasons and should be interpreted together with the person's clinical circumstances and, where appropriate, blood glucose testing.

A urine glucose test does not replace blood glucose monitoring or laboratory testing for the diagnosis or management of diabetes.

Protein (PRO)

The protein reagent area screens for protein in urine.

Protein may be detected temporarily or persistently for several reasons. A positive result should not be used independently to diagnose kidney disease or another medical condition.

Repeated or unexpected protein results should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

Product Uses

Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips can be used for:

  • Screening urine for glucose
  • Screening urine for protein
  • Routine urinalysis
  • Monitoring urine glucose when advised by a healthcare professional
  • Monitoring urinary protein when clinically advised
  • Routine health screening
  • Diagnostic laboratory testing
  • Hospital and clinic urinalysis
  • Health screening programmes and medical camps
  • Home monitoring under appropriate medical guidance

These strips are intended as a screening and monitoring aid and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or treatment decisions.

How to Use Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips

  1. Wash and dry your hands before performing the test.
  2. Collect a fresh urine sample in a clean, dry container.
  3. Remove one test strip from the vial without touching the reagent areas.
  4. Immediately close the vial tightly to protect the remaining strips from moisture.
  5. Completely immerse the reagent areas of the strip in the urine sample.
  6. Remove the strip and drain or remove excess urine as directed in the product instructions.
  7. Keep the reagent areas in the appropriate position while the reactions develop.
  8. Compare each reagent area's colour with the corresponding Glucose and Protein colour chart at the reading time specified in the product instructions.
  9. Record the result if required.
  10. Dispose of the used test strip appropriately. Do not reuse it.

Important

Always follow the instructions for use (IFU) supplied with the product, particularly the immersion procedure and reading time for each parameter. Reading a reagent area too early or too late may affect interpretation.

Tips for More Reliable Results

Use a fresh urine sample and a clean, dry collection container.

Do not touch the reagent areas with your fingers.

Remove only one strip at a time and immediately close the vial.

Protect unused strips from moisture, excessive heat and direct sunlight.

Do not use strips after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Do not use strips if the reagent areas appear damaged, discoloured or have been stored incorrectly.

Interpret results only against the colour chart intended for the specific product.

Unexpected, persistent or abnormal results should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips test for?

They screen two urine parameters: glucose (GLU) and protein (PRO).

How many tests are supplied in one pack?

Each pack contains 100 urine test strips.

Do the strips test glucose and protein at the same time?

Yes. Each strip contains reagent areas that allow glucose and protein to be screened from the same urine sample.

Do I need a urine analyser?

No. These strips are designed for visual interpretation by comparing the reagent-pad colours with the reference colour chart supplied with the product.

Can these strips diagnose diabetes?

No. Urine glucose strips are screening and monitoring aids and cannot independently diagnose diabetes. Diagnosis and diabetes management may require blood glucose testing, HbA1c and/or other investigations as advised by a healthcare professional.

Can protein in urine confirm kidney disease?

No. A urine protein result alone cannot confirm kidney disease. Protein can appear in urine for different reasons. Persistent or unexpected positive results require appropriate clinical evaluation.

Can urine glucose testing replace a glucometer?

No. Urine glucose testing and blood glucose testing measure different things. Do not replace prescribed blood glucose monitoring with urine glucose testing unless advised by your healthcare professional.

Are these strips suitable for home use?

They may be used for home monitoring where appropriate, provided the user carefully follows the supplied instructions and seeks professional advice regarding abnormal or unexpected results.

Can laboratories and clinics use these strips?

The 100-strip format is suitable for routine urinalysis applications in healthcare and diagnostic settings subject to the facility's procedures and applicable requirements.

Can a test strip be reused?

No. Each urine reagent strip is single use only.

What type of urine sample should be used?

Use a fresh urine sample collected in a clean, dry container unless a healthcare professional or the product IFU specifies otherwise.

How are the results read?

After dipping the strip, compare the colour of each reagent area with the corresponding colour scale supplied with the product at the specified reading time.

What should I do if glucose is detected in my urine?

A urine glucose result should be interpreted in context. If the result is unexpected, repeatedly positive or you have symptoms or health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional for appropriate evaluation.

What should I do if protein is repeatedly detected?

Persistent or unexpected protein in urine should be discussed with a healthcare professional. Further urine, blood or other investigations may be recommended depending on the clinical situation.

How should the strips be stored?

Keep the strips in their original container with the cap tightly closed and follow the storage temperature and conditions printed on the product packaging. Protect them from moisture, direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Can I use expired urine test strips?

No. Do not use the strips after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
