Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips – 100 Tests

Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips are 2-parameter urinalysis reagent strips designed for simultaneous screening of glucose (GLU) and protein (PRO) in urine.

Each strip contains separate reagent areas for glucose and protein, allowing both parameters to be screened using a single urine specimen.

The 100-test pack is suitable for routine urine chemistry screening in diagnostic laboratories, clinics, hospitals, healthcare facilities and suitable monitoring applications where glucose and protein are the required parameters.

No urine analyser is required for visual interpretation. Results are read by comparing the developed reagent-pad colours with the corresponding reference colour chart supplied with the product.

Brand: Microsidd
Parameters: Glucose + Protein
Sample: Urine
Pack size: 100 test strips
Method: Dip-and-read visual urinalysis

What Do Microsidd Glucose + Protein Strips Test?

Parameter Abbreviation What It Screens
Glucose GLU Presence or approximate concentration range of glucose in urine
Protein PRO Presence or approximate concentration range of protein in urine

These strips provide a focused urine chemistry option when the required parameters are specifically glucose and protein rather than ketones or a broader multi-parameter urinalysis profile.

Why Test Glucose and Protein in Urine?

Glucose and protein are two commonly screened urine chemistry parameters, but they provide different information.

Glucose in Urine

The glucose reagent area screens for glucose present in the urine sample.

Urinary glucose may occur when blood glucose rises above the kidney's ability to reabsorb glucose, although other physiological and clinical causes are possible.

Urine glucose testing does not independently diagnose diabetes and should not replace blood glucose testing or HbA1c where these are clinically required.

Protein in Urine

The protein reagent area screens for protein present in the urine sample.

Protein may appear temporarily or persistently for several reasons. A single positive result should not be interpreted independently as a diagnosis of kidney disease.

Unexpected or repeatedly positive urine protein findings should be assessed appropriately and may require further laboratory or clinical investigation.

Who May Use Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips?

Depending on the intended testing workflow and applicable guidance, these strips may be useful in:

  • Diagnostic laboratories
  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Point-of-care testing settings
  • Health screening programmes
  • Occupational health screening
  • Medical camps
  • Professional urine chemistry testing
  • Suitable monitoring applications under healthcare guidance

Microsidd Urine Chemistry Range – Which Strip Should You Choose?

Microsidd offers focused and multi-parameter urine reagent strips so the testing configuration can be selected according to the actual parameters required.

Testing Requirement Recommended Microsidd Product Parameters
Glucose + Protein Microsidd Glucose + Protein GLU + PRO
Glucose + Ketones Microsidd Glucose + Ketone GLU + KET
Broader Routine Urinalysis Microsidd URS10T 10 urine parameters

The strip with the greatest number of parameters is not automatically the best choice. Select the strip that matches the intended testing requirement.

Need Glucose + Ketone Testing Instead?

If the required parameters are glucose and ketones rather than glucose and protein, choose the dedicated Microsidd Glucose + Ketone strip.

Complete Your Urine Testing Setup

Reliable urine chemistry testing begins with suitable specimen collection.

A urine specimen container provides a convenient way to collect and handle the sample before reagent-strip testing.

Add a Urine Specimen Container →

A simple urine testing workflow is:

  1. Collect a fresh urine specimen in a suitable container.
  2. Test using the appropriate Microsidd urine reagent strip.
  3. Read each reagent pad at the specified time using the supplied colour chart.
  4. Record and interpret results according to the intended testing workflow.

How to Use Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips

Always follow the Instructions for Use supplied with the actual product pack, particularly the immersion procedure and parameter-specific reading times.

  1. Collect a fresh urine specimen in a clean, suitable container.
  2. Remove one test strip without touching the reagent areas.
  3. Immediately close the strip container tightly.
  4. Immerse the reagent areas into the urine sample according to the product instructions.
  5. Remove the strip after the specified immersion period.
  6. Remove excess urine according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  7. Keep the strip appropriately positioned while the reagent reactions develop.
  8. Compare the glucose and protein pads with their corresponding colour scales at the specified reading times.
  9. Record the results where required.
  10. Dispose of the used strip appropriately. Do not reuse it.

Important: Different reagent areas may have specific reading times. Reading a test pad too early or too late may affect interpretation.

How Are the Results Read?

Microsidd Glucose + Protein Urine Test Strips are designed for visual interpretation.

After contact with the urine specimen, the glucose and protein reagent pads develop colours that are compared with the corresponding reference scales supplied with the product.

Results should be interpreted only using the colour chart intended for the specific product and at the reading times stated in the Instructions for Use.

Urine Glucose Testing vs Blood Glucose Testing

Urine Glucose Testing Blood Glucose Testing
Detects glucose excreted into urine Measures glucose directly in a blood sample
Provides indirect screening information Provides a direct blood glucose measurement
Influenced by renal glucose threshold and urine timing Reflects blood glucose at the time of testing
Uses urine reagent strips Typically uses a compatible glucometer and blood glucose strip

Urine glucose testing should not replace clinically required blood glucose monitoring or HbA1c testing.

What Does Protein in Urine Mean?

Protein may be detected in urine for several temporary or persistent reasons.

A positive urine protein result does not independently establish the cause and should not be used alone to diagnose kidney disease or another medical condition.

If protein is repeatedly detected or the result is unexpected, appropriate clinical assessment and additional testing may be required.

Tips for More Reliable Urine Strip Results

  • Use a fresh urine specimen unless the test instructions specify otherwise.
  • Use a clean, suitable specimen container.
  • Do not touch the reagent pads.
  • Remove only one strip at a time.
  • Close the strip container immediately after use.
  • Follow the specified immersion and reading times.
  • Use only the colour chart supplied for the product.
  • Do not use strips after the stated expiry date.
  • Do not use reagent pads that appear damaged or abnormally discoloured before testing.

Storage and Handling

Urine reagent strips contain chemically reactive test areas and should be protected from unsuitable environmental exposure.

  • Store according to the conditions stated on the product packaging and IFU.
  • Keep strips in their original container.
  • Close the container tightly after removing a strip.
  • Protect from excessive heat, humidity and direct sunlight.
  • Do not touch the reagent areas with your fingers.
  • Do not transfer strips between containers.
  • Do not use after the stated expiry date.

Can these strips diagnose diabetes?

No. Urine glucose testing does not independently diagnose diabetes. Appropriate blood glucose, HbA1c and clinical evaluation may be required.

Does protein in urine mean kidney disease?

Not necessarily. Protein can appear in urine for several temporary or persistent reasons. Repeated or unexpected protein findings should be evaluated appropriately.

Can urine glucose testing replace a glucometer?

No. Urine glucose screening and blood glucose measurement are different tests. Do not replace prescribed blood glucose monitoring with urine glucose testing unless advised by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Should I choose Glucose + Protein or URS10T?

Choose Glucose + Protein when those are the two parameters required. Choose URS10T when broader multi-parameter urinalysis is needed.
