## SD BIOLINE TB Ag MPT64 Rapid is a rapid immunochromatographic identification test for the _M. tuberculosis_ complex.Biochemical, immunological and molecular biological characterization of _Mycobacterium tuberculosis_ has led to the identification of several antigens which may be useful in the development of improved diagnostic methods in order to discriminate between the M. tuberculosis complex and mycobacteria other than _M. tuberculosis_ (MOTT bacilli). _M. tuberculosis_ has been known to secrete more than 33 different proteins. One of the predominant proteins, MPT64 was found in the culture fluid of only strains of the _M. tuberculosis_ complex.
